OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN.

Olympus_Has_Fallen_poster[2]
Ok my verdict.
Firstly, my intent was to see how “Gerard Butler” handled an action role, since he always does Romance or Romcoms & Ohhhh he killed it… & not in a good way.
Olympus has fallen is a very Stupid film. It made no sense what so ever. It was just a lot of gun slinging & jet fighter moves… They also tried to replicate 9/11 with the destruction of the Washington monument etc. But it was crap!

And the hostage taking part as well… The United States secret service cannot be that inefficient and what was the opposition’s aim really? Did the US offend them? Maybe all of that was explained in the movie but I was so overwhelmed by the Crapiness that I just didn’t get it.

And for the Protagonist (“Actor”), so with all those bullets flying everywhere, only he was unharmed? Ok o. It was almost as though he was the only trained one… So what have all the rest been doing? Even 9ja Secret Service would have done better. It was just crap.

Then to the news casters; Americans are very patriotic, their News Anchors cry when their country is under attack but in the movie, they were almost smiling. Olympus actually fell. I was not impressed. Period!

I enjoyed the fights though :D .

TEMPTATION: Confessions of a Marriage Councellor.

Temptation-Confessions-of-A-Marriage-Counselor-Stills[1]
Hi y’all, so I’ve been waiting to see this movie and I finally did. It didn’t have the Punch most T Perry movies do, guess he’s beginning to tone down on the outrageous drama, his movies also have a deliberate element which is so annoying and clearly this was free of that. This movie explores Infidelity, passion and consequence. It’s exactly what the name suggests: Temptation; You have Mr. Rich, Powerful and charming enticing lil ‘ol country girl… and she fell. She was happily married, just discontented…

Watching, I kept thinking; was it wrong to challenge her to aspire to better or different in fashion, sex etc or should he have let her be, with her ordinariness. Guess it was up to her to draw the line. She clearly felt she met someone that made her look @ life differently; For the record, that’s exactly what Satan did in the garden of Eden- look where it left the whole world.
I think the acting was believable but Kim k is more believable on her reality show. She was the mean girl in this movie, clearly she doesn’t “do mean” very well. Yet I wanted more screen time for her. Also, for the first time in my life, I didn’t believe V. Williams.

The worst things tend to happen to moralists because after being “locked up” for so long, they tend to play with fire in the name of excitement and adventure.
You might want to check out the stage version of this movie (from 2008): it’s the exact story line, only it’s a dramedy, you might appreciate that.
One last word: Excitement is not always a good thing lol. Have a good one.,

Roger Ebert’s 13 Best, Most Scathing, LOL-Worthy and Infamous Movies Reviews

rs_560x415-130404124235-1024.ebert.siskel.ls.4413[1]
Roger Ebert passed away yesterday, leaving the world with years and years of movie reviews to remember him by. When Ebert liked a movie, he was well spoken, complimentary and often poignant. When he didn’t like a movie, he was scathing, relentless and all around funny as hell.

So we’ve rounded up 13 of his best (bad) reviews and organized them by category, for your easy reading. With Ebert, it didn’t even matter if you’d seen the movie to enjoy his review. But read on and you’ll see that for yourself:
He was a master of similes and metaphors:

On The Twilight Saga: New Moon:
“Sitting through this experience is like driving a tractor in low gear though a sullen sea of Brylcreem.”

On Battlefield Earth: “Battlefield Earth is like taking a bus trip with someone who has needed a bath for a long time. It’s not merely bad; it’s unpleasant in a hostile way.”

On Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: “If you want to save yourself the ticket price, go into the kitchen, cue up a male choir singing the music of hell, and get a kid to start banging pots and pans together. Then close your eyes and use your imagination.”

On Mad Dog Time: “Mad Dog Time is the first movie I have seen that does not improve on the sight of a blank screen viewed for the same length of time…Watching Mad Dog Time is like waiting for the bus in a city where you’re not sure they have a bus line.”
He’d often include things he’d rather be doing:

On Seven Days in Utopia: “I would rather eat a golf ball than see this movie again.”

On The Brown Bunny: “I had a colonoscopy once, and they let me watch it on TV. It was more entertaining than The Brown Bunny.”

On Masterminds: “I stopped taking notes on my Palm Pilot and started playing the little chess game.”
He’s sometimes slip in some dating advice:

On Valentines Days: “Valentine’s Day is being marketed as a Date Movie. I think it’s more of a First-Date Movie. If your date likes it, do not date that person again. And if you like it, there may not be a second date.”

On Battle: Los Angeles: “Young men: If you attend this crap with friends who admire it, tactfully inform them they are idiots. Young women: If your date likes this movie, tell him you’ve been thinking it over, and you think you should consider spending some time apart.”
And sometimes he was simply scathing:

On Freddy Got Fingered: “This movie doesn’t scrape the bottom of the barrel. This movie isn’t the bottom of the barrel. This movie isn’t below the bottom of the barrel. This movie doesn’t deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence with barrels.”

On A Lot Like Love: “To call A Lot like Love dead in the water is an insult to water.”

On North: “I hated this movie. Hated, hated, hated, hated, hated this movie. Hated it…Hated the sensibility that thought anyone would like it. Hated the implied insult to the audience by its belief that anyone would be entertained by it.”

Last but certainly not least, this double whammy, which not only ripped the movie that he was reviewing but Britney Spears’ cinematic debut: “Sorority Boys will be the worst movie playing in any multiplex in America this weekend, and, yes, I realize Crossroads is still out there.”

It’s a shame we’ll never hear what he has to say about Fifty Shades of Grey.

Culled from eonline.com Nice week :)

LEGENDARY FILM CRITIC, ROGER EBERT PASSES AT AGE 70.

05ebert_span-articleLarge-v2[1]
Mr. Ebert had suffered from cancer for 11 years. This took it’s toll on his appearance. I like to remember him as the good looking, vibrant Roger Ebert from the 70s.
In 1975 he became the first film critic to win a Pulitzer Prize, for his Sun-Times reviews. His columns were syndicated to more than 200 newspapers in the United States and abroad, and he wrote more than 15 books, many by skillfully recycling his columns. In 2005 he became the first film critic to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“In the century that film criticism has been in existense, no other critic has ever occupied the space held by Roger Ebert,”- Mick LaSalle, movie critic for The San Francisco Chronicle, wrote in 2010.
Ebert also became a force to be reckoned with in social media but reportedly never tweeted during a movie.
(Anyone know where to get the movie “Citizen Kane”- 1941? I need to see it, it was his favourite).
Rest In Peace Mr. Ebert. You did great work, You will be greatly missed. Thumbs Up to You.,

WEEKEND GETAWAY.

POSTER.jpg-reduced[1]
Produced by: Ini Edo
Once this movie started and for the first few minutes, all I could think was; this is the stupidest movie I ever saw, I don’t even know why Genevieve (Nnaji) is a part of it (if all that is proper English).
It’s just the Nollywood version of “Maid in Manhattan” or “Valentine’s day” (Star studded and senseless) or “Just go with it” or that other Nollywood movie Ini Edo did with Kalu Ikeagwu and Rita Dominic where Ini faked it till she made it as Ikeagwu’s wife. Also, I’ve always said Ini Edo is not such a good actress and that Uti Nwachukwu… I’ve never seen this kind of baloney in my life before (Please don’t mind my English, guess it’s allowed for this review {rolling eyes in frustration}).
And OMGod, they kept using certain expressions wrongly like: Chase after “all the girls” in skirts. To the best of my knowledge, it’s chase after “everything” in skirts and I know a challenge when I “smell” one? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought the expression was I know a challenge when I “see” one or maybe they changed the expression when I wasn’t looking. The acting earlier in the movie was awful and they spoke a lot of bad English.
Then all of a sudden, everything got better; the humour, dialogue/acting, scripting etc.

This movie is about five couples who left Lagos for Le’Meridian hotel, Akwa Ibom for a “Weekend Getaway”. So basically you have five different story lines, set in the same location. All the couples had their proverbial ups and downs but in the end, they all had happy endings and ‘Eru Eke’ was soooo good (watch out for her).

Of course, with any Nollywood entrée, there are always bits and pieces that make absolutely no sense, but overall, it was a good one. You should see it, it was alright.

CAN’T WAIT FOR THESE MOVIES TO START AIRING IN THESE PARTS.

OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN.
Olympus_Has_Fallen_poster[2]
It is a Political action thriller starring Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett and Morgan Freeman. Olympus by definition is the highest peak of the Olympic Mountains or the place of abode of the Greek gods, so the term Olympus has fallen should mean “It is finished” for the subject matter which is The White House and America in general. This movie draws a lot of parallels to movies like Salt, Vantage point and even Argo . I’m interested in seeing Gerard Butler in this role.

BEAUTIFUL CREATURES.
>Beautiful_Creatures_One,4D_low_res[1]
This movie is very much like the Twilight Franchise. Everything’s practically the same except for the southern drawl (It is set in the South) and the very visual evolving of the enchanted characters. Something tells me it’s going to be a hit, for some reason all movies with supernatural themes have been. I guess it’s because of human fascination with the paranormal and the essential theme of Love and Mortality. Can’t wait to see it though. It stars Emmy Rosum, Viola Davis, Emma Thompson…

CONTRACT (Nollywood).
Yvonne-Okoros-Contract-462x600[1]
Starring Joseph Benjamin, Hlomla Dandala, Desmond Elliot, John Dumelo, Sandra Ankobiah. I think this is already airing, please go see it; it seems like one of the good ones. The cast is amazing; some of the best in Africa and the storyline is original. In fact, I’m going to see it right now lol. Have a lovely week and splendid Easter celebrations.
